Membership - Pollok Credit Union

Why should I join?

PCU was established in 1993 and today is proudly one of the largest community-controlled credit unions in Glasgow with over 7,000 members and branches in Pollok, Maryhill, and Possilpark.

Member owned and not-for-profit, PCU exists to serve its members with personal, friendly customer service and a commitment to helping individuals towards financial empowerment. PCU offers its members access to low-cost loans with flexible repayments and the chance to support a community-focused and ethical financial institution.

Ethical Banking

PCU represents an ethical alternative in the banking sector as a financial cooperative dedicated to financial inclusion and social initiatives.

No Hidden Fees

Our loans have no set up or early repayment fees.

Mobile Banking

With CU Mobile, you can access your savings account whenever, wherever, so that you can always be on top of your finances.

Life Insurance

As a PCU member, you receive non-contributory life insurance. This gives you extra financial security in the event of death or terminal illness.

Save Before You Borrow

Saving before you borrow is great for those looking to build their credit scores and gain access to affordable loans.

Personal and Friendly Service

We pride ourselves on delivering a personal, friendly service to our members.

We require one form of photographic identification. For example, your passport or driving license.

Bus passes or citizenship cards are also accepted, but these must be presented alongside a document such as a library or bank card with your signature. If you are not sure what to use, just get in touch with us and we will help.

We require one document dated from the past three months with your full name and address clearly shown. Examples include a utility bill, bank statement, doctor's letter, tenancy agreement, or DWP letter.

You will need to know your National Insurance number to become a member. If you apply online, you will need to upload a document with the number. This could be your most recent payslip, or DWP letter.

To open your account, we charge an admin fee of £2.50 to cover our costs. You also need to make a minimum deposit of £1 in your account.
